Do I need a Green card when going abroad?
Strictly speaking No. The UK is part of the European Union and Motor Insurers automatically provide cover when traveling to EU member countries. However cover only meets the minimum requirements of the country you are in therefore any damage to your vehicle following an Accident Fire or Theft, even a windscreen breakage will NOT be covered.
A green card extends the cover you receive in the UK whilst traveling abroad, therefore we recommend that such cover is arranged prior to a trip.
