The doors have closed on another remarkable year at the BIBA Conference, and 2025 proved to be the most ambitious yet. With an estimated 10,000 attendees, it reinforced its standing not only as Europe’s largest insurance broking event, but arguably the largest in the world.

For Ratcliffes Insurance Brokers, exhibiting at Stand F58 provided an unparalleled opportunity to connect with the broker community — from long-time partners to first-time visitors looking to discover more about our specialist commercial vehicle products and wider portfolio.

A Word From Our CEO

“The conference gives us the opportunity to meet many friends who have placed business with Ratcliffes over the years — and continue to do so. It also opens the door to new relationships with brokers who specialise in commercial vehicle insurance, our speciality, as well as exploring our range of new and evolving products.”

Our team came away from the event energised by the calibre of conversations we had and the continued appetite among brokers for dependable, specialist support in a rapidly evolving insurance environment.

AI, Regulation, and the Broker Agenda

BIBA CEO Graeme Trudgill's keynote underscored key priorities for brokers in 2025, highlighting the impact of AI and the importance of upcoming FCA regulatory reforms. His comments, reported by Insurance Business UK, touched on how brokers must navigate innovation while maintaining trust:

"The regulatory landscape is changing, and we must ensure brokers aren’t overwhelmed by reforms. Our focus is on supporting members while also embracing the potential of technologies like AI.”

These themes echo what we heard at our stand — brokers seeking practical solutions that align with compliance and commercial pressure, while also positioning themselves to serve clients more efficiently and flexibly.

Climate and Responsibility

While the focus inside the venue was squarely on industry evolution, climate activists made their presence known once again outside the conference centre — a reminder that public scrutiny of the industry’s environmental accountability continues to grow. According to Reuters, this marked the third consecutive year of climate protests at BIBA, reinforcing the growing expectation for insurance firms to engage with climate resilience and transition strategies.

At Ratcliffes, we recognise the need to support clients not only through product innovation but also by helping them manage risk in a changing environmental landscape.

What’s Next for Brokers?

As we look forward, several clear trends emerged from BIBA 2025:

  • A demand for simplified placement routes for complex or specialist cover

  • A growing interest in data-informed underwriting

  • The importance of staying agile in response to regulation

  • An appetite for insurer–broker collaboration that goes beyond price

We’d like to thank everyone who stopped by our stand, shared insights, or simply said hello. For those we didn’t catch — we’d still love to connect.
